On November 30th, 2018, a NJHS fundraiser, Winter Wonderland was hosted. Winter Wonderland was a movie night with winter-themed games, prizes, bonding and of course, movies! The PYP movie was the Polar Express, and for MYP, Home Alone was shown. There was a great turnout for both; there were a total of 15 PYP families and 33 MYP students which is a very large number compared to previous movie nights. On top of that, NJHS raised a total of $656 dollars for donations and NJHS funds. The NJHS volunteers did their best to make sure that everyone got the best experience possible and to ensure the success of this event.
The attendees had a great time watching a favorite throwback winter movies, and also enjoyed cookie decorating and a pin the nose on the snowman station. At the cookie decorating station each child got a cookie and was able to choose a flavored icing and from a variety of sprinkles, allowing children to showcase their creativity in a fun and engaging way. There was also some delicious concessions on sale which consisted of cupcakes, popcorn, hot chocolate, candy canes, soda, and apple cider. Our NJHS volunteers made sure to help the children whenever needed and made the event a blast!
We interviewed a few of the attendees and volunteers on their insights of the event and here are some of the responses.
“Movie night was very enjoyable for all ages and especially for us NJHS members” – Tiffany Ngari.
“It was fun; we made a lot of money for our community. NJHS people had fun volunteering and seeing the kids is happy.” – Sanya Hegde
“Movie Night went as planned and the PYP kids definitely looked like they were having a lot of fun with the balloons and food. The only problem was that there were too many volunteers” -Heather Huett
“It was pretty fun. I had a good time and people seemed to be enjoying it.” -Anusha Malla
Based on these comments from our attendees, the event was great and we encourage you to come again next year!
