As the 2018-2019 school year is coming to an end, there is a lot of talk and action occurring in the hallways, classrooms, and bathrooms. Teachers are stressing, trying to get their grades in before the deadline and students are tensed on summative scores, but there’s a buzz of excitement in the air, as everyone is ready for a long, relaxing vacation! We decided to interview one of our favorite teachers to get their thoughts on the last few crazy weeks of school.
One of the teachers we interviewed this week was Mrs. Dodds, a MYP and DP Algebra 2 and Math Studies Teacher. Here are a few of the questions were asked and her responses. Q1:How do you feel as the school year is coming to an end? A1: I feel a lot of anxiety, there is a lot that needs to get done. For example, grading, stress, and meeting deadlines. Q2: What are you looking forward to in the next few weeks? A2: I am looking forward to summer vacation and a nice break. Q3: Do you think you will do anything differently next year: A3: Next year, I plan on collecting phones at the beginning of class. They are a big distraction, especially with Airpods, and taking them up would help students focus. Q4: What is your advice as the school year comes to an end? A4: You always have the opportunity to revise if you properly turn in all your work and remember that no matter what grade you get you are still an amazing person.
There is clearly lots of varying opinions on these last few days that kids have left in this school year, but one thing is for sure; the 2018-2019 school year was one of the craziest years in the history of Imagine! So many eventful situations occurred: an amazing resource officer, Officer Lee joined our school, the chess team placed 1st in TSCAAL, the choir team also placed 1st in the competition, 7th graders visited NASA in Houston, the gas leak happened and school was let out early. This list could go on and on for pages and we wouldn’t be able to stop, it’s just the thing about our school. Well, now that this school year is coming to an end, the newspaper team must also say farewell for the last few weeks, and we hope everyone has a pleasant and relaxing summer
